Friends cast to quarantine ahead of reunion

The cast of Friends will reportedly be tested for coronavirus and required to quarantine before filming the new reunion special.

The cast of Friends will reportedly be required to go into isolation prior to filming of the reunion special next month.

The new unscripted project was originally due to be filmed in March and released in May but was delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now the production is slated to go ahead next month, but according to The Mirror, plans for a live studio audience have been dropped and there will be additional safety measures for the six-strong main cast to adhere to.

"Everyone is really hoping production and filming can resume next month," a source told the newspaper. "It's full steam ahead right now, but there are going to be very strict guidelines and that includes no live audiences.

"That's a big blow because bosses were desperate to create an authentic atmosphere. All of the cast will be tested for COVID-19, and asked to quarantine in isolation after they've had the tests."

Filming of the special next month means that it could now be released this side of Christmas.
