Broadway star Nick Cordero dies aged 41 after coronavirus battle

Broadway star Nick Cordero dies at the age of 41 following a battle with coronavirus.

Broadway actor Nick Cordero has lost his battle with coronavirus at the age of just 41, his wife Amanda Kloots has confirmed.

The star, known for Waitress and Bullets Over Broadway, was admitted to hospital with COVID-19 more than three months ago but despite overcoming the disease suffered serious medical side-effects.

Cordero had to have his right leg amputated last week due to a blood clot and was also told that he would need a double lung transplant but passed away on Sunday.

"God has another angel in heaven now," Kloots wrote on Instagram. "My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.

"I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone's friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband."

Cordero is survived by his wife and their one-year-old son Elvis.
