BBC announces new Greg Davies comedy The Cleaner

BBC One announces details of a new comedy that will star Greg Davies as a crime scene cleaner.

BBC One has announced details of a new comedy that will see Greg Davies star as a crime scene cleaner.

The Inbetweeners and Taskmaster star has also written the six-part series, adapting the format from the German series Der Tatortreiniger.

Davies will play Paul 'Wicky' Wickstead in the show, which will follow him as he tidies up gruesome crime scenes and interacts with the victim's nearest and dearest.

"As a young man I told a careers adviser that I wanted to mop blood up for a living or be a comedian," said Davies. "He told me with a giggle that neither were real jobs and I should consider learning a trade. Well he's not laughing now is he?!

"Sadly, he's dead.

"I'm thrilled to be adapting this wonderful show with Studio Hamburg UK for BBC One and can't wait to get cleaning."

An airdate for the show has not yet been confirmed.
