Neve Campbell turns down sixth Scream film over pay
Neve Campbell reveals that a dispute over pay means that she will not appear in the next Scream movie.

Neve Campbell has confirmed that she will not feature in the next Scream movie after failing to agree a suitable fee to appear.

The actress has portrayed the iconic Sidney Prescott in all five films in the horror franchise to date, including the most recent film, which was released in January.

The success of that movie, which earned at least $140m (£111m) off a $24m (£19m) budget, has led to a sixth film being greenlit - but Campbell will play no part.

"Sadly, I won't be making the next Scream film," she told Variety in a statement.

"As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.

"It's been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You've always been so incredibly supportive to me. I'm forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years."

Filming on the new movie will begin in Canada later this week ahead of a planned release on March 31, 2023.
