New Marvel superhero Ironheart, played by Dominique Thorne, will make her debut in the Black Panther sequel.

Dominique Thorne will make her debut as the superhero Ironheart in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, it has been confirmed.

The character is a young student called Riri Williams who reverse-engineers Tony Stark's Iron Man costume to create her own identity, Ironheart.

Last year Marvel announced that Ironheart had been given her own six-part Disney+ miniseries, with Thorne cast in the title role.

Now MCU head Kevin Feige has revealed that the character will be first seen in next summer's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is currently being filmed.

"We're shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first," he told ComicBook.com.

"She started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series."

Ironheart does not yet have a release date, while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is due out on July 8, 2022.
