Line of Duty series six resumes filming

Filming restarts on the new series of Line of Duty after a break of more than five months due to coronavirus.

Filming on the new series of Line of Duty has restarted in Northern Ireland after a break of more than five months due to coronavirus.

Just a quarter of the series had been filmed before the production was shut down in March but filming got back underway on Monday with strict new health and safety protocols in place on set.

"We know Line of Duty fans are desperate for series six and we hope we can get it on air as soon as possible," said showrunner Jed Mercurio. "Thanks so much for your patience in these difficult times."

Vicky McClure, who plays DI Kate Fleming on the show, added: "Been sitting on these incredible scripts for some time now, so I'm really looking forward to getting back to it and seeing the Line of Duty family."

Series six is now expected to air early in 2021 on BBC One.
