Piers Morgan 'intends to leave Good Morning Britain next year'

Piers Morgan reportedly still "intends" to leave Good Morning Britain in December 2021.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan is said to be steadfast on quitting the breakfast show when his current contract expires next year.

The 55-year-old, who signed a new two-year deal to remain as presenter last December, has gained a new legion of fans in recent months for his no-nonsense approach to interviewing government ministers during the coronavirus crisis.

Morgan's combative style has led to an increase in ratings but also thousands of complaints to TV regulator Ofcom and an alleged ban on ministers appearing on the show in future.

In an in-depth profile of Morgan in The Sunday Times today, the presenter reaffirms that he "intends" to leave GMB when his deal expires in December 2021, although he presently has no further ambitions beyond that.

Morgan has been the face of the show since 2015.
