Dilja will represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool this May.

Dilja has been chosen to represent Iceland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

The singer, a former contestant on the local version of Got Talent, won national selection contest Songvakeppnin on Saturday night with her song 'Power'.

As a result she will now head to the UK to fly the flag for her nation, performing during the second semi-final on May 11 in the hopes of earning qualification for the grand final two days later.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: "WE ARE GOING TO LIVERPOOL #eurovision. Keep fighting for your dream, because dreams do come true. THANKS for the support, the beautiful words and for VOTING POWER."

Iceland have progressed to the grand final in each of the last three contests, finishing in the top 10 with Hatari (2019, 10th) and Dadi Freyr og Gagnamagnid (2021, 4th).
