Charlie Brooks teases what's to come for Janine on the Christmas Day episode of EastEnders.

Charlie Brooks has said that her character Janine will be guided by "shock and fear" as she prepares to leave EastEnders.

Both Janine and new husband Mick (Danny Dyer) will exit Albert Square over the festive period, and although exactly how they depart is still a mystery, spoilers have revealed that Janine's many lies will finally be exposed before she goes.

Key to her undoing will be the shock return of Jada (Kelsey Calladine-Smith) on Christmas Day - and when Janine sees her back in Walford, she scrambles to keep Linda (Kellie Bright) from bumping into her.

"She wants to get Linda away from Jada as quickly as possible - to the point where she invites her in for Christmas lunch!" said Brooks. "She doesn't want them to have a conversation, so I think it's shock and fear guiding Janine."

She continued: "Janine has invited Linda and Shirley in to help them avoid Jada, and Sonia and Ricky are there too.

"Janine's trying her best to make it a really lovely family Christmas, and it's going well. She puts Linda as far away from Mick as she possibly can.

"But when two people are in love, and they have that history, you can always feel it, so that's the tension in the room."

EastEnders airs Christmas Day at 9.25pm on BBC One.
