Jennie McAlpine: 'People need their Corrie'

Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine says that she is pleased the soap has managed to swiftly return to six episodes a week.

Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has praised the soap for being able to return to six episodes a week so quickly.

Despite filming being shut down for more than two months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Corrie managed to avoid going off the air by halving the number of episodes broadcast from six a week to three.

Now the soap is in a position to return to its former broadcasting pattern after filming restarted in earnest under new health and safety guidelines in June.

"I don't quite know how we've managed that," McAlpine, who plays Fiz, told Lorraine. "But yep, from this Monday coming it will be six episodes a week.

"People need their Corrie, especially now that horrible Geoff has started to get found out!"

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
