Channique Sterling-Brown teases what to expect from Coronation Street this Christmas.

Channique Sterling-Brown has teased some "great surprises" for viewers on Coronation Street this Christmas.

The Weatherfield newcomer made her debut as Dee-Dee Bailey earlier this month and the character has quickly settled into life on the street, making fast friends with Alya (Sair Khan) after helping to prove Stu (Bill Fellows)'s innocence.

Talking to The Mirror at last week's Inside Soap Awards, Sterling-Brown revealed: "We are going in a great direction in the lead-up to Christmas. I think there is gonna be some great surprises, and some really important issues are tackled.

"Also it's Corrie, so there is gonna be fun and laughter. I am really excited about a storyline I am working on at the minute."

On the Christmas Day episode itself, she added: "They started filming this week actually, it's gonna be an enjoyable one I think.

"It will be a bit of a rollercoaster, and a bit of a bumpy ride but it will also be an exciting and memorable one."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
