Sky announces the launch of Sky Stream, a device that works with any TV and offers the Sky service over broadband, eliminating the need for a satellite dish.

Sky has announced the launch of Sky Stream, a new product that will allow viewers to watch the Sky service without the need for a satellite dish.

Sky Stream builds on last year's launch of Sky Glass, an integrated TV device that has Sky built in and works entirely over broadband internet.

The new service removes the need for the Sky-specific TV and comprises a small set-top box that can be plugged into any TV, opening up the Sky Glass interface to access Sky's range of channels and apps such as Disney+, Prime Video, discovery+ and Peacock.

Stephen van Rooyen, chief exec of Sky, said: "Sky's always reinvented the TV experience and offered the best content – but it's not always been accessible to everyone.

"There couldn't be a better time to launch our latest innovation using the Sky Glass Platform – whether you want to stream House of the Dragon, Gangs of London or Stranger Things, Sky Stream has it all.

"It's the most affordable and easiest way to get Sky TV and Netflix together, offering consumers the value they are seeking right now."

Sky Stream, which launches on October 18 with packages starting at £26 a month, can be ordered online and arrives with next-day delivery as standard.
