Doctors will get a new nightly repeat on BBC Two from next month, it is announced.

Long-running daytime soap Doctors will air as part of BBC Two's primetime schedule from next month, it has been announced.

The move comes as ITV shifts Emmerdale from its 7pm slot to a new regular time of 7.30pm - a decision which has also prompted the BBC to move EastEnders to a new permanent time of 7.30pm.

Doctors will continue to air on BBC One at lunchtimes as usual, but will get a new evening repeat screening at 7pm on BBC Two.

"We're delighted that, from 7th March, there will be new regular time slots for EastEnders on BBC One, and Doctors on BBC Two," said Kate Oates, the BBC's head of continuing drama.

"Both shows have a loyal following; and this new simplified schedule means it's even easier for viewers to get their fix, as well as being able to watch whenever and wherever they choose on iPlayer.

"A 7pm time slot gives a whole new audience chance to enjoy the drama in Leatherbridge; while EastEnders' new 7.30pm slot begins with a hugely exciting week, as killer Gray Atkins is finally exposed."

Also next month, Coronation Street is moving to a new timeslot of 8pm, where it will air as hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while episodes of Channel 4's Hollyoaks will begin to be released first on All 4.
