Dave will commission a new six-part drama series with a budget of around £8 million.

UKTV's director of commissioning Richard Watsham has revealed that he is on the lookout for Dave's first original drama series.

The channel has a stable of original commissions in the entertainment and comedy genres, including Big Zuu's Big Eats, Meet The Richardsons and Hypothetical.

According to Broadcast, the channel is now planning to commission its first drama and has set aside a budget of around £8 million for a six-episode series.

The publication says that Watsham is keen to find a drama which is "warm in tone" but is not a comedy drama or a crime series.

The new show will likely air on Dave in the second half of next year.
