ITV greenlights a new series of The Cube with Phillip Schofield for broadcast later this year.

ITV has confirmed that it has ordered another new series of The Cube for broadcast later this year.

The nerve-wracking gameshow - hosted by Phillip Schofield - returned after five years last October with a new million-pound jackpot at stake.

The revival was stripped in ITV primetime across a week, averaging 3.5 million viewers, and now the broadcaster has committed to a new six-part series and two celebrity specials - albeit with the prize pot reduced back to £250,000.

"It was such a treat to be back in the studio last year, with the pairs of contestants adding a whole new twist on the drama inside the box," said Schofield.

"This series you'll see a whole new side to The Cube... get ready to be on the edge of your sofas!"

The new run will be filmed under coronavirus-safe conditions in late May and will be broadcast later in the year.
