'Race Across The World' winners revealed

The winning pairing on Race Across The World is revealed as the BBC Two series reaches its climax.

SPOILER WARNING: This article reveals details about the finale of Race Across The World that some readers may prefer to avoid.

Emon and Jamiul have been crowned the winning pairing of the second series of Race Across The World, taking the £20,000 prize fund in the process.

At the start of the final leg, mother and son duo Jo and Sam shared the news that they could no longer continue, having used up their entire budget before reaching the penultimate checkpoint.

The three remaining couples all set off for the final destination - Ushuaia in Argentina, the most southerly city in the world.

After taking differing routes through the vast length of Argentina, all three found themselves on the same bus from Rio Gallegos to Rio Grande, which left them in striking distance of Ushuaia.

Both Emon and Jamiul, and Jen and Rob, had sufficient budget remaining to take a taxi on to Ushuaia, while brother and sister Dom and Lizzie had to hitchhike, putting them out of contention.

The race to the winning line became a literal race on foot, with Emon and Jamiul outrunning Jen and Rob by just 20 seconds to take the victory.
