Former Gladiators star Diane 'Jet' Youdale hints that "a version" of the show may air in 2022 to mark its 30th anniversary.

Former Gladiators star Diane Youdale - aka Jet - has suggested that the show may return in 2022 for an anniversary special.

The sporting game show aired on ITV between 1992 and 2000, running for eight series and several specials, and was revived by Sky One for a brief period in the late noughties.

Speaking to GladPod, Youdale - now 50 - hinted that "a version" of the show could air in two years' time but ruled herself out of the running for a comeback.

"A little bird has told me that there is something on the table that looks gladiatorial and will possibly be around for our 30th year. Maybe there'll be a version of it," she said.

"You couldn't pay me enough to go back and do it again, but I think the concept of having these larger-than-life superhero Gladiator people is timeless. And I think that'll always work. I wouldn't change a thing about my time as a Gladiator."

Jet was one of the most popular Gladiators during her time on the show, which was cut short in 1996 after she fell and cracked her neck during a challenge.
