American Horror Story could flip 10th, 11th seasons

American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy reveals that the upcoming 10th season of the show will have to change due to coronavirus.

American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has admitted that production delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic mean that the upcoming 10th season will need a rethink.

The new instalment of the horror anthology series was due to begin filming last month and had a confirmed returning cast that included Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd and Leslie Grossman, as well as a new face in the form of Macaulay Culkin.

Murphy has revealed that the 10th season is "weather-dependent", however, meaning that when production resumes later in the year, they may have to shoot the 11th season instead - or take a full year's break and resume the 10th season next spring.

"A lot of what I was going to shoot was dependent on a very specific moment," Murphy told The Wrap. "It was a weather-dependent show. So now I don't know. I don't know what we're going to do.

"I don't know what I'm gonna do next with that show. I don't know if I'll accelerate another season or wait till next year to shoot this one."

FX has already renewed the show through to its 13th season, scheduled to air in 2023.
