Love Island will return to Majorca for its new series, according to ITV commissioner Amanda Stavri.

ITV commissioner Amanda Stavri has confirmed that this year's edition of Love Island will be set in Majorca.

The dating show returns to ITV2 next month after being cancelled in 2020 due to coronavirus - although the broadcaster has yet to officially announce if the show will be staged at its usual villa in Majorca.

The UK government is currently advising against all but essential travel to Spain, but Stavri has told the Radio Times that Love Island will be going ahead in the country regardless.

"We haven't announced anything officially but Mallorca is very much the home of Love Island," she said.

"I can't confirm anything 100% at this stage but it will definitely be the Love Island viewers know and love.

"We did look into some back-up plans but we were all very much focused on making it happen in Mallorca, which is where it belongs quite frankly."

The new series is expected to launch at the end of June and will run for eight weeks.
