Johanna Konta suffers defeat at Nottingham Open

British number Johanna Konta is out of the Nottingham Open after suffering a second-round defeat to Zheng Saisai.

Johanna Konta has suffered a straight-sets defeat to Zheng Saisai to exit the Nottingham Open at the second-round stage.

The British number one had been hoping to build some momentum ahead of Wimbledon at the end of the month but she went down 6-4 7-5 to the world number 86.

Konta broke her opponent's serve at the first time of asking but she lost her way during the middle part of the set as Zheng moved closer to a first victory over the 25-year-old.

Zheng struck at the start of the second set as Konta struggled with an injury, and although she battled through the pain barrier to come within two points of forcing a decider, Zheng finished strongly to wrap up an impressive win.
