Dan Evans and Cameron Norrie both prevail as Great Britain open their Davis Cup Finals campaign with a 2-1 win over France on Saturday.

Great Britain kicked off their Davis Cup Finals campaign with a 2-1 success over France in their opening game in Group C.

France had previously marched to a 2-1 win in their opener versus the Czech Republic, but GB were on the front foot from the off as Dan Evans saw off Adrian Mannarino 7-5 6-4.

The doubles encounter was not a joyous occasion for the Brits, though, as Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski lost 1-6 1-4 to Nicolas Mahut and Arthur Rinderknech.

Indian Wells Masters champion Cameron Norrie was given a good run for his money against Rinderknech, but he ultimately prevailed 6-2 7-6 (10-8) in Austria.

Captain Leon Smith hailed his singles players following the 2-1 win, telling BBC Sport: "I thought Dan really led by example in how he came out today. His mentality was excellent.

"Cameron showed why that bank of matches, being 12 in the world, winning big tournaments, pays dividends when it really matters."

GB will now prepare for Sunday's meeting with the Czech Republic in Innsbruck.
