Richard Agar pleased despite Wakefield Trinity Wildcats defeat

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach Richard Agar praises his team's performance, despite Friday's 52-18 defeat at St Helens in Super League.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach Richard Agar has praised his side's display, despite Friday's 52-18 defeat at St Helens in Super League.

Jonny Lomax scored a hat-trick for the hosts at Langtree Park as the Wildcats were beaten for the fourth time this season.

"I was really pleased. That probably sounds odd for a coach whose charges have let in 50 points but our effort, spirit and commitment were tremendous," Agar told Sky Sports News.

"At the end of the day the scoreline blew out in the last 15-20 minutes and a lot of class from the other team told on the scoreline at the end of the day.

"But, with a depleted side, I think every one of our players can look themselves in the eye and say they have given their all."

The loss has seen Wakefield stay in 11th place in the Super League table.
