Michaela Coel reportedly joins the cast of the new Black Panther movie in an unspecified role.

I May Destroy You's Michaela Coel has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming Black Panther sequel.

The new movie is the first without lead star Chadwick Boseman, who died last summer after a private battle with cancer.

Called Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the film will see the return of stars Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett.

According to Variety, they will be joined by British actress Coel, who recently received four Emmy nominations for her work starring in, creating, writing and directing I May Destroy You.

Details of Coel's role are unknown, although she is said to have already arrived in Atlanta to join filming, which started last month.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is due for release on July 8, 2022.
