Olympic gymnast Louis Smith apologises for revealing the result of last weekend's Strictly Come Dancing before it was aired on BBC One.

Olympic gymnast Louis Smith has apologised for accidentally revealing who got the axe from Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend.

The 23-year-old took to Twitter to say his farewells to former Eastenders actor Sid Owen before BBC One aired the results show on Sunday.

"I couldn't believe I accidentally gave the game away about the result," said Smith. "The fans have been amazing to me and the last thing I'd want to do is ruin the surprise. It was such an emotional night and we were all exhausted.

"I just completely forgot for a second when I was tweeting but realised straight away and deleted it. I'm so sorry if I spoilt it for anyone, I won't be doing it again, that's for sure."

Meanwhile, Smith, who won a silver and bronze medal at London 2012 this summer, has confirmed that he will be dancing the Samba this Saturday.
