Ed Chamberlin to switch from Sky Sports to ITV's racing coverage

Ed Chamberlin will leave his role as chief Sky Sports' football presenter to anchor ITV's racing coverage in 2017.

Sky Sports' chief football presenter Ed Chamberlin will switch to ITV to head its racing coverage in 2017.

The 42-year-old, who has been anchoring Sky Sports' Premier League broadcasting since 2011, takes on the new role having had previous experience working for Ladbrokes.

ITV announced the news, confirming that Chamberlin will be in place when its racing coverage begins in 2017.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining ITV and to be given this great opportunity," Chamberlin said in a statement. "These are exciting times with ITV returning as the home of British racing from January 1, 2017."

ITV director of sport Niall Sloane added: "Ed's skill as a presenter of live sport is matched only by his love of racing, so we're delighted to bring someone with his attributes on board as we build up to our coverage starting in the new year."

Coverage of the events will switch from Channel 4 to the new broadcaster, which will show a minimum of 34 racing fixtures on the main ITV channel and 60 on ITV4.
