Wayne Rooney hits out at 'X Factor' contestant Stevi Ritchie

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney criticises The X Factor contestant Stevi Richie before the singer gets voted off on the ITV reality show.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney showed that football wasn't quite on his mind on Sunday evening after tweeting that The X Factor contestant Stevi Ritchie should be booted off the show.

The Overs category performer has caused controversy throughout the ITV reality series, with some suggesting that Simon Cowell's act does not deserve his place above some better singers.

Rooney decided to wade into the debate during last night's results show by tweeting: "I hope stevi Richie wins x factor that will stop the poor acts going to live shows in future. Good singers going out while he stays???"

Fortunately for Rooney, Ritchie was voted off the show by the judges after taking part in a sing-off against Mel B's act Andrea Faustini.
