Love Island producers are rumoured to be aiming for half of its cast this year to be bisexual.

Producers of Love Island are reportedly aiming for 50% of its cast this year to be bisexual.

Earlier this year it emerged that ITV was seeking applicants of all sexualities in order to make the show more inclusive, despite the logistical challenges such a move would create for the format.

According to The Sun, producers hope that casting bisexual contestants will lead to more possible couplings as the series progresses.

"Love Island has always been inclusive – the only criteria is that you're over 18 and looking for love," a source told the newspaper.

"But this is the first year that finding contestants with more fluid sexuality has been part of the briefing.

"The casting team have been doing their best to tick that box as they whittle down the pool of contestants to the final numbers."

The new series is due to begin on ITV2 at the end of June.
