The upcoming third series of cult comedy Derry Girls is reportedly confirmed to be its last.

The upcoming third series of Channel 4's Derry Girls will reportedly be its last.

The acclaimed comedy, starring Nicola Coughlan, centres around a group of girls - and their English male friend - growing up in 1990s Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

A third series was originally due to be made last year but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic - and when production does finally restart, The Sun says it will be for one last hurrah.

"Derry Girls has had a great run and will go down as one of Channel 4's best ever comedies," a source told the newspaper.

"But the show's come to its natural end and everybody associated believes it's the right time to go, when there's such a demand for it."

The new episodes are due to be filmed later this year to air in early 2022.
