Sara Pascoe takes over from Joe Lycett as host of The Great British Sewing Bee.

Sara Pascoe has been announced as the new host of The Great British Sewing Bee.

The comedian - a regular on shows such as QI and Would I Lie To You? - replaces Joe Lycett, who is stepping down from the role after three series.

The show has become increasingly popular over the last few years, with the seventh series averaging over 6 million viewers a week earlier this year.

"It's such an honour to get to be part of a show I love watching," said Pascoe. "I'm so inspired by creativity and skill and I am deeply in love with clothes so I can't think of a happier place to be!"

Lycett added: "I am absolutely thrilled that my friend Sara Pascoe is the new host of The Great British Sewing Bee. I loved the three series I did, but I can't wait to see how she makes the haberdashery her home."

The new series is due to be filmed in the coming months for broadcast on BBC One in spring 2022.
