Strictly Come Dancing producers are reportedly determined to sign up BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker for this year's series.

Strictly Come Dancing producers are reportedly making a fresh approach for BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker for this year's series.

The 44-year-old is thought to have turned down multiple offers to appear on the show in the past but could be tempted to change his mind this year now that he has stepped down as host of Football Focus.

"Dan would be a great fit for Strictly," a source told The Sun. "He's hugely popular thanks to his work on BBC Breakfast and sport.

"He has fans across a range of age groups, he is charismatic and also a real family man.

"And crucially he now has a clear diary on Saturdays. He is one of our top targets for this year's cast."

Other rumoured names for the show include Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford, Westlife singer Mark Feehily and Line of Duty star Gregory Piper.
