Brooks Koepka says that the current uncertainty involving the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund will make it easier for him to win this week's US Open.

Brooks Koepka has suggested that he will only benefit from the current uncertainty in the world of golf ahead of this week's US Open.

Eight days ago, the PGA Tour announced the surprise merger with the Saudi Arabia-backed Public Investment Fund, who created rival tour LIV Golf.

A report last week indicated that only as many as seven people were aware of the developments between organisations publicly perceived to be enemies, with Rory McIlroy only learning about it three-and-a-half hours before the revelation.

Since then, little more information has been divulged, leading to constant talk in media conferences ahead of the third major of the year.

However, while those on the PGA Tour are known to be frustrated by the secrecy on the PGA Tour's part, Koepka has stated that he is less concerned.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Koepka acknowledged that he, too, was not aware of the negotiations which were being held behind the scenes, yet he feels that it will only help him win a second major in succession.

The American said: "We didn't hear anything about it. I think that's the one thing that shocked everybody the most. I ran into Rickie [Fowler] and JT [Justin Thomas] after watching the whole thing and I asked if they knew, and they said they didn't know, either.

"They were kind of learning about it. They were on the back of the range, so I probably saw them 30 minutes after the news broke."

Koepka added: "The more chaotic things get the easier it gets for me. Everything starts to slow down and I am able to focus on whatever I need to focus on while everybody else is dealing with distractions, worried about other things."

At the Masters and US PGA Championship, Koepka has been the best performing player, letting slip a lead at Augusta to eventually finish in a share of second before going on to dominate the final round of the US PGA in New York last month.

Koepka is also a two-time winner of the US Open, prevailing in 2017 and 2018, and he also has a LIV Golf victory under his belt from Orlando at the beginning of April.
