Sophie Raworth will take over from Andrew Marr hosting a new Sunday politics programme on BBC One on an interim basis.

Sophie Raworth is to host BBC One's Sunday morning political programme on an interim basis beginning in January.

Andrew Marr has hosted The Andrew Marr Show in the timeslot for the last 16 years but last month he confirmed that he will be leaving the BBC at the end of the year.

Raworth will front a similar programme, temporarily called Sunday Morning, for several months while a new permanent replacement for Marr is appointed.

The show is then expected to relaunch with a new title, a new look and the new host later in the year.

Marr's final show will be broadcast on December 19, with Raworth taking the reins from January 9.
