Davood Ghadami joins the cast of Holby City after leaving EastEnders.

Outgoing EastEnders star Davood Ghadami has joined the cast of Holby City, it has been announced.

The 38-year-old has played Kush Kazemi on the BBC soap for the last six-and-a-half years but will leave Walford in scenes to be broadcast early next week.

Ahead of his EE departure, Holby City have now confirmed his arrival as Eli Ebrahimi, Holby's new consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, who is described as "excitable, passionate and exploding with energy".

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining such a brilliant show," said Ghadami. "Holby City is renowned for its quality storytelling and I'm excited for the audience to meet Eli and watch the drama that unfolds on his arrival!"

Series producer Sean Gleeson added: "We are more than excited to welcome Davood from EastEnders to Holby and know that he is going to be a fantastic addition to our cast."

Eli will make his debut on the medical drama later this year.
