Ruxandra Porojnicu announces that she has left Coronation Street after more than two years playing Alina Pop.

Ruxandra Porojnicu has confirmed that she has left Coronation Street after two and a half years playing Alina Pop.

In episodes that aired last night, Alina decided to return to her native Romania after finding out that fiancé Tyrone (Alan Halsall) had kissed his ex Fiz (Jennie McAlpine).

Packing up her belongings and leaving in the back of a taxi, Alina left a devastated Tyrone with the revelation that she had fallen pregnant again.

Posting a picture of her and Halsall on Instagram, she wrote: "And that's a wrap on Corrie! Thanks to everyone who encouraged and supported me. It meant so much.

"I worked with some of the finest people, who are not only extremely talented but very humble and caring. They made me feel welcome and a part of this beautiful family.

"TA EVERYONE! - people up north are well nice"

Although Alina was seen leaving the street last night, her time on the soap is not quite done yet and in tonight's episode, Tyrone tracks her down to a hotel in an attempt to convince her to stay.
