Wolverhampton Wanderers "working away" at new signings

Wolverhampton Wanderers sporting director Kevin Thelwell insists that the club are "working very hard" on new signings.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are working hard to bring new faces into Molineux this summer, sporting director Kevin Thelwell has insisted.

The Midlands side impressed upon their return to the Premier League last season, finishing best of the rest in seventh place to secure qualification for the Europa League.

As a result, Wolves' competitive season will begin earlier than any of their rivals, with the first leg of their Europa League qualifier set for July 25 at Molineux.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have yet to make any additions this summer, however, with their only business to date being the permanent capture of Mexican striker Raul Jimenez for a club-record £35m.

"We need to be judged when the transfer window closes because it is all about securing the right player that's going to be able to help us going forward for a long period," Thelwell told the Wolves website.

"We'd all want it to be done much earlier, but it never works out that way. We're working very hard and we're confident we'll secure the right players to help us this season.

"We're not expecting a huge amount of movement in or out, truth be known. I think we've got a very strong and solid group of players, and we want to build on the momentum and cohesion we've already got, and Nuno's been very focused on that.

"Wholesale changes are not on the agenda, it's small tweaks to allow us to keep the squad nice and fresh moving forwards."

Among Wolves' rumoured targets are Lyon midfielder Lucas Tousart, former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay, Angers striker Stephane Bahoken and young Liverpool winger Harry Wilson.
