Mauro Zarate: 'West Ham United need to improve'

Mauro Zarate claims that West Ham United must improve after battling to a goalless draw with Stoke City on Saturday.

Mauro Zarate has claimed that West Ham United must improve quickly after Saturday's frustrating goalless draw with Stoke City at Upton Park.

A squad weakened due to injuries to key players could not find a breakthrough against the Potters, and Zarate admits that recent performances are below the standard expected of Slaven Bilic.

"I think it's tough on us but we have to win at home. It was a good match and we did a decent match ourselves, but we have to do better if we want to win," Zarate told the club's website.

"They created some chances in the second and Adrian had to be really good. The zero-zero was not a normal result because they created some chances and we did our job too, but a draw is not enough for us.

"We needed that goal at the end and we needed to do more if we wanted to win."

West Ham have not won any of their last six games, scoring just three goals in that stretch.
