Manager Paul Lambert claims that new signing Papa Alioune Ndiaye will become "a big player" for Stoke City after joining the club from Galatasaray.

Stoke City manager Paul Lambert has tipped January signing Papa Alioune Ndiaye to make a big impact at the Potters.

On deadline day, Stoke completed a £14m deal for the Senegalese international, who leaves Galatasaray after just six months at the Turkish giants.

Ndiaye has spent the majority of his career in Norway and Turkey, but Lambert has backed the midfielder to play a key role at the bet365 Stadium.

At a press conference, the 48-year-old told reporters: "He's going to the World Cup again. He's played a massive part for Senegal and a massive part at Galatasaray.

"The good thing for me is that he has great enthusiasm for the game and that he will give us something different which we don't have. He'll fit in great when he settles with us. He'll be a big player for us."

Ndiaye could feature when Stoke face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
