Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident of signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but will need to raise funds from player sales.

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly have to offload players if they want to strike a deal for Southampton's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The midfielder has talked up a move away from Ralph Hasenhuttl's side in recent weeks, and Hojbjerg was stripped of the Southampton captaincy after announcing his desire to play for a Champions League team.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are confident that they can secure a deal for Hojbjerg, but there will need to be some outgoings from North London in order to raise the required funds.

Taking into account the financial concerns arising from the coronavirus pandemic, Spurs are not expected to pursue big-money deals for players during the summer transfer window.

However, despite the fact that Hojbjerg has just one year remaining on his Southampton contract, Jose Mourinho's men would reportedly have to fork out a fee of £35m to secure the midfielder's signature.

The 24-year-old has registered five goals from 131 appearances for Southampton since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2016.
