Oliver Glasner is to leave his role as Eintracht Frankfurt manager at the end of the season, with Tottenham Hotspur linked to the 48-year-old Austrian.

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that Oliver Glasner will leave the club at the conclusion of the season, with managerless Tottenham Hotspur linked to the 48-year-old.

Glasner joined Frankfurt from fellow Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in the summer of 2021 and guided The Eagles to their first European success in over 40 years, beating Rangers in last year's Europa League final.

Despite making it through to the last 16 of the Champions League this term, Frankfurt have struggled domestically and currently sit ninth in the Bundesliga standings following a 10-game winless streak.

The fact that Frankfurt have dropped from second to outside the European places has been cited as a major factor behind the decision to part ways with their current boss.

"Following lengthy and intensive discussions as well as a comprehensive analysis with head coach Oliver Glasner, Eintracht Frankfurt have reached the decision to end their working relationship with the tactician at the end of the 2022-23 season," read a statement published on the club's official website.

"The team's sporting development and overall performance in the second half of the campaign prompted club officials to reevaluate the situation, a process which led to the aforementioned decision. The 48-year-old's contract was originally due to expire on 30 June 2024."

Glasner added: "I accept the decision made by the club management, which was explained to me in a clear manner. The talks with Markus Krosche and Timmo Hardung were honest, open and fair, just as our communication in the last few years has always been constructive and guided by a great deal of mutual respect.

"But now is not the time to say goodbye or to look back: we still have a decisive mission ahead of us and will do everything we can in the coming weeks to make sure our performances in the final straight of the Bundesliga season lay the foundation for a fantastic final together in Berlin and to bring the DFB Cup back to Frankfurt.

"It's very important to me personally that Eintracht can enjoy great nights on the European stage again in the coming season."

Krosche, Frankfurt's board member for sport, also commented on the decision: "We are of the opinion that after all the speculation and turmoil that has arisen in recent weeks and months with regard to the coaching personnel, that clarity is now essential moving forward so that the coach and the team can completely focus on achieving the objectives for the season and the cup final.

"With that in mind, we want to work together on the best possible farewell and concentrate all our energy on our remaining games."

Glasner will take charge of Frankfurt for their final three league matches and their highly-anticipated DFB-Pokal final against RB Leipzig at the start of June.
