Real Madrid 'considering activating Sergio Reguilon buyback clause'

Real Madrid are reportedly considering activating a buyback clause on Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering activating a buyback clause on Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon during this summer's transfer window.

The 24-year-old joined Spurs from Madrid last summer, and he has been a regular for Jose Mourinho's side during the 2020-21 campaign, contributing five assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.

Reguilon penned a five-year contract upon his arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but a buyback option was included in the agreement, meaning that Los Blancos can re-sign the Spain international for a fee of €45m (£40.4m) in either of the next two summer windows.

According to Sport, Zinedine Zidane's side are considering activating the option, having been impressed with the defender's performances since moving to England.

Reguilon, who has made 22 first-team approaches for the Spanish champions, has been a key player for Tottenham since his arrival but could be the second-choice left-back at the Bernabeu due to the presence of Ferland Mendy.

Marcelo is also still with Madrid, but the experienced Brazilian has only made eight appearances at club level this season and only has a contract in the Spanish capital until next summer.
