Harry Kane admits that he could look to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the near future if the club are not "progressing".

Harry Kane has admitted that he could look to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the near future if he feels that the club are not "progressing".

The England captain, who is working his way back from a hamstring operation, is believed to be a transfer target for Manchester United ahead of the summer window.

In February, a report claimed that the 26-year-old would consider his future this summer and during a live Instagram broadcast with Jamie Redknapp, Kane conceded that he would not stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium "for the sake of it".

"Obviously I get asked this question a lot," said Kane. "It's one of those things - I couldn't say yes and I couldn't say no. I love Spurs, I'll always love Spurs but I've always said if I don't feel we're progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I'm not someone to stay there for the sake of it.

"I'm an ambitious player, I want to improve, get better and become one of the top, top players. It all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team. So it's not a definite I'm going to stay there forever but it's not a no either."

Kane, who has a contract with Jose Mourinho's side until the summer of 2024, managed 17 goals in 25 appearances before picking up a hamstring injury on New Year's Day.
