Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has stressed that his client would not entertain a return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has stressed that his client would not entertain a return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer and reiterated the Welshman's desire to remain at Real Madrid for next season.

The winger completed a move to the Bernabeu from Spurs for what was then a world-record £85m transfer fee in 2013.

Spurs have reportedly expressed interest in signing Bale this summer and will shell out £54m for the talismanic forward, provided Real are prepared to contribute to his wages over the next three years.

However, his agent told the Daily Mail that "nothing has changed" with regard to Bale's stance on staying in Spain during this window.

Real are prepared to sell Bale, who endured another injury-hit and frustrating campaign last season, but no offers have arrived, with top clubs reluctant to pay his £15.3m-a-season net salary.

The Welshman's already fragile place in the starting XI at Real has been further damaged by the signing of Eden Hazard and return to the dugout for Zinedine Zidane, who ostracised Bale during his first spell as manager.
