Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is "very confident" that Hugo Lloris will sign a new deal with the club.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is "very confident" that Hugo Lloris will sign a new contract with the North London club in the near future.

The 35-year-old's current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is due to expire at the end of June, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.

Conte is under the impression that discussions between the two parties have already started, and the Italian believes that the France international will pen an extension with Spurs.

"I think that they have started to talk. You know very well what I think about Hugo. He's our captain, he is a top goalkeeper for us, he has great experience. He knows very well Tottenham. He loves this shirt and this badge," Conte told reporters.

"For me he is an important player and I'm sure that they are going to find a solution for him to continue to play with Tottenham.

"I am not the person that speaks to renew the contract with the players. There is the club and the people that do this. But for sure I am very confident about this situation to be positive."

Conte has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham during the 2021-22 campaign, conceding 25 times and keeping eight clean sheets in the process.
