Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte admits that the thigh injury Cristian Romero suffered during the recent international break is "serious".

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is worried that Cristian Romero will be sidelined for a while with a "serious" thigh injury.

The Argentina international went down during his side's meeting with Brazil during the international break and was not available for Sunday's win over Leeds United.

Initial reports claimed that Romero was facing a three-week spell on the sidelines with the issue, but Conte has now delivered a more pessimistic update on the centre-back.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Thursday's Europa Conference League clash with NS Mura, Conte said: "About Cristian Romero, we're waiting for another scan. Honestly, I think his injury is serious.

"We have to wait. I don't know now the time he needs to recovery. Surely his injury is more serious than Giovani Lo Celso or Dane Scarlett. We have to wait for the next scan and then the doctor can give more information on the dates for his recovery."

Lo Celso is once again expected to miss out this week, while Scarlett suffered an ankle injury during the November international break and will not get the chance to earn some valuable minutes either.
