Sevilla announce the departure of experienced attacker Isco on a free transfer, with the two parties coming to a mutual agreement.

Sevilla have announced the departure of experienced attacker Isco on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old only joined Sevilla in August, with the Spaniard moving to Estadio Ramon after running down his contract at Real Madrid.

Los Nervionenses are believed to have beaten a number of clubs to his signature, and the playmaker was handed a two-year contract by the 1945-46 La Liga champions.

Isco has been a regular this season, making 19 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and three assists in the process.

The attacker has two assists in 12 La Liga outings this term, while he scored once and provided one assist in six outings in the group stage of the Champions League.

However, he is not in the plans of current Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli, which has led to the club releasing the Spaniard from his deal.

"Sevilla FC and Isco Alarcon have agreed to terminate the contract that united both parties since the player from Malaga joined the Nervionense club last summer after finishing his spell at Real Madrid," read an official statement.

"The club wants to wish Isco all the luck in the world in his new professional challenges."

Isco started his professional career with Valencia before moving to Malaga in 2011, spending two years with the club ahead of a switch to Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.

The attacker managed 53 goals and 56 assists in 353 appearances for Real Madrid before his departure on a free transfer over the summer.

Isco enjoyed huge success at Bernabeu in terms of trophies, meanwhile, winning three La Liga crowns, one Copa del Rey and five Champions League titles.

A number of Premier League clubs are believed to have considered moving for the midfielder over the summer, although it is unclear whether any interest remains from England.

Isco has made 38 appearances for Spain, scoring 12 times, although he has not appeared for the national side since 2019.
