Rangers "disappointed" by SFA decision to deny increased Mike Ashley stake

Rangers express their disappointment at the SFA's decision to deny Mike Ashley permission to increase his stake in the club.

Rangers have expressed their disappointment at the Scottish Football Association's decision to prevent Mike Ashley from increasing his stake in the club.

The governing body of Scottish football made the decision today after Ashley had requested to raise his maximum allowed stake in the club from 10% to 29.9%.

Rangers and Ashley were recently charged by the SFA due to the businessman's dual interest in running both the Glasgow club and Newcastle United.

"The Board of Rangers Football Club are very disappointed with the SFA's decision and we will now consider all our options," read a club statement.

Rangers, who are currently without a permanent manager after Ally McCoist was put on gardening leave, sit second in the Scottish Championship, 12 points behind leaders Hearts.
