Newcastle United complete the signing of Tino Livramento from Southampton, with the 20-year-old full-back penning a five-year deal at St James' Park.

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Tino Livramento from Southampton.

The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at St James' Park, keeping him at the club until 2028.

The transfer fee remains undisclosed, but is thought to be worth around £40m.

Livramento joined Southampton from Chelsea in 2021 and quickly established himself as a first-team regular at St Mary's before suffering a serious injury that forced him to miss the majority of last season.

The full-back managed only two appearances for the Saints during their relegation 2022-23 campaign, but he will now get another chance of Premier League football - as well as the Champions League - with the Magpies.

"I'm really excited to have signed for Newcastle United and I'm looking forward to playing in front of the fans," he told the club's website.

"I was here for the games over the weekend; even though they were friendlies, there were so many fans and they were still so loud so I can't wait to see what it feels like to play in front of them in a Premier League or Champions League game.

"The way the manager plays football is really attractive and I feel like it suits me as a player. And with how well the team did last season, the trajectory that we're on now, I'm just looking forward to being a part of that.

"And to be able to learn from Kieran Trippier is another big thing for me; hopefully he teaches me how to become a better player and a better full-back."

Manager Eddie Howe added: "Tino is a very talented young player with an exciting future ahead of him so we are delighted to sign him.

"At 20, he already has lots of attributes that I admire but he also has the potential and drive to really grow with this team. I'm looking forward to working with him and to seeing him develop in a Newcastle shirt."

Livramento becomes Newcastle's third big-money signing of the summer after Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes, while they have also brought in 18-year-old Yankuba Minteh, who will spend the upcoming season on loan at Feyenoord.

The Magpies have gone through pre-season unbeaten ahead of their return to the Champions League for the first time in 20 years this term.

Howe's side, who finished fourth in the top flight last season, will begin the new Premier League campaign at home to Aston Villa on Saturday.
