Southampton are willing to sell in-demand midfielder Romeo Lavia during this summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Southampton are reportedly willing to sell Romeo Lavia during this summer's transfer window, with a number of clubs believed to be in the hunt for his signature.

The 19-year-old made the move to St Mary's from Manchester City last July, penning a five-year contract upon his arrival at the Saints.

Lavia has been in strong form for Southampton during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 27 occasions in all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist in the process.

A number of clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United, have been credited with an interest in the midfielder, who made his debut for Belgium last month.

Meanwhile, there have also been suggestions that Man City are considering re-signing him, with the Citizens inserting a buy-back clause into the sale last summer.

According to 90min, Man City have the option to re-sign Lavia for £40m next summer, but Southampton are hoping to sell him for a higher fee in the upcoming market.

The report claims that Chelsea are planning a move, while Newcastle United are also believed to be keeping a close eye on the developments surrounding his future.

The Saints are facing relegation from the Premier League this season, currently sitting bottom of the table, four points from the safety of 17th position with seven games left.

Southampton are allegedly willing to sell Lavia even if they avoid dropping into the Championship, as the money raised from a big sale could be used to reinvest in the squad.

Earlier this month, Man City head coach Pep Guardiola said that he was "really impressed" with Lavia amid claims that the youngster could return to the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgian only made two first-team appearances during his time at Man City, debuting for the club at the age of 17, and he was allowed to leave last summer in search of regular action.

Lavia has featured on 22 occasions in the Premier League during the 2022-23 campaign, finding the back of the net against Chelsea at the end of August.

The youngster has been unable to help Southampton triumph in the league since the start of March, though, with the Saints picking up just two points from their last six matches during a disappointing run.
