Ralf Rangnick laughs off claims that he will receive an £8.5m bonus if Erling Braut Haaland arrives at Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund.

Ralf Rangnick has laughed off suggestions that there is a €10m (£8.5m) bonus in his contract that he will receive if Erling Braut Haaland arrives at Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland will have a £63m release clause in his BVB contract next summer, and a recent report claimed that Rangnick has been instructed to bring the Norway international to Old Trafford.

However, the new Man United interim manager has branded such suggestions "nonsense", although he has confirmed that he was involved in the 21-year-old's move from Molde to Red Bull Salzburg in 2019.

"£10m for Erling Haaland, £10m for Kylian Mbappe, £10m for Robert Lewandowski and £10m for Joshua Kimmich," Rangnick told reporters.

"This is nonsense obviously. There is no such clause in my contract. It doesn't make sense to speculate over any new players. Erling Haaland is a fantastic striker. I know best myself because I was together with the people at RB Salzburg at the time.

"I was also a little bit involved with the move [Haaland's] from Molde to Salzburg therefore I know what kind of player he is, but in the meantime, the whole world has realised how good the player is. Two years ago, it was only a few people who believed.

"I'm more than happy. The offensive players we have here, we have so many top players in the offensive department that we don't need to speak about any other players."

Man United have also been linked with moves for RB Leipzig duo Amadou Haidara and Christopher Nkunku ahead of the January transfer window.
