Borussia Dortmund's Manuel Akanji insists that he is fully focused on his time at the Westfalenstadion but refuses to rule out a move to Manchester United in the future.

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji has refused to rule out a potential move to Manchester United in the future.

The Switzerland international has supposedly caught the eye of the Red Devils ahead of the summer transfer window, and he has less than 18 months left to run on his deal at the Westfalenstadion.

When quizzed about the recent speculation, Akanji has insisted that he is motivated to achieve success with Dortmund but has left the door open for a move elsewhere ahead of the summer transfer window.

"I am fully focused on Dortmund at the moment. We will see what happens in the future. I'm totally happy to play in this team," Akanji told German outlet Kicker.

"I think I have an important role and I want to perform until the end. And then we'll see in the summer how things go."

Akanji has turned out 30 times in all competitions for Marco Rose's side during the 2021-22 season and has won one DFB-Pokal and one German Super Cup since arriving from Basel in January 2018.
